This Antique Cookbook from 1879 titled “Housekeeping In Old Virginia” is a treasure collection of recipes and household hints. With its hardcover binding and illustrations by a unknown artist and contributions from Two Hundred and Fifty of Virginia’s Noted Housewives Distinguished for their skill in Culinary Art and Other Branches of Domestic Economy.

This First Edition Book is a must have for Book Collectors and people who are excited by basic cooking.

This book has different sections on soups, oysters, Shellfish, Game, Assorted Meats, Salads, sauces, stews, desserts and lots more. It also contains special diets and remedies for the sick and housecleaning tips etc.

The original book was published by John P Morton and Company of North America.

It is in VG condition with advertisements. After doing some researching this is a copy of two currently on the

market today that is not a re-print from the 1960’s. One other is listed on E-bay. This is a First Edition as I see it and is a Original 1879 Cookbook.

It doesn’t have any marks or tears has one fold on bottom of one page 356, cover has a few scoffs and binding it loose( please see pictures)
