Author/Poet/Professor and Artist Nancy Willard.  Willard died in 2017.

Antique Toaster conversion to folk art featuring woven strands, found objects, and adornments.

Nancy Willard was an award winning author, poet and professor (Vassar College).  Her writing included a Newberry Award Winning Book (A Visit to William Blake's Inn).   She is less known for her art work, probably because she never produced them to be available to the public.  Some of her pieces she used to inspire her creative writing, and certainly some were done for sheer enjoyment and pleasure.  Her house was filled with her creative pieces which included furniture, dolls, posters, signed decorative eggs, and of course her toasters, which her family considered to be among her favorite pieces.

She used a whimsical and fantastical approach to all her creations.  These represent an unique contribution to American Folk Art.

The toaster is unique in that it features a double door on each side
