Russian Medal St. George on a horse slaying the dragon.
You are looking at a jetton issued under the provisional
government on July-November 1917. It is possible that
certain of these jettons are in actuality medals presented
by the Russian Provisional Government.
However, this information could not be corroborated.
The obverse of this jeton shows St. George on a horse
slaying the dragon. On the reverse, it reads in Russian
"Patriots were fighting for the freedom, 1917".
Underneath, in very small lettering in Russian, it reads
"Made by Private Factory: D. Kuchkin. Moscow".
The medal is in good to fine condition. There is heavy wear and pitting on both sides that has accumulated over the decades. The portrait of St George is nevertheless clearly recognizable. The raised writing on the reverse is completely legible. There are some blemishes, but this antique medal doesn’t look bad overall.
