Subject: In this piece, the artist depicts his subject in an abstract and impressionistic way, capturing the busy Seine by the Hotel de Paris. The streets of Paris are portrayed in the distance with much life and vibration, we can feel the energy effortlessly. The artist mostly used oil with a pallet knife, with impasto paint, and then by using subtle brush strokes with a wide color pallet, a beautiful rendition of the street with figures is accomplished. The artist was truly a master of capturing the magic and romance of Paris in all of its glory throughout the seasons. This piece is executed whimsically, yet dramatically evoking an emotion of wonder and beauty. Signed lower left and comes housed in a distressed gold tone wood frame with hanging wire on verso ready to be displayed.

Condition: The painting is in excellent condition and comes displayed in a vintage frame that shows some ordinary wear from age, and minor imperfections in line with the manufacturing period.

R. Champignon was born in Marseille in 1918. His studies of art took him to Paris and later to Florence. After completing his education in Italy, he returned to Paris, the city of lights and inspiration for many artists in the 20th Century. He was known for his colorful pallet and bold brushwork, his painting style also has a mystical quality about them which brings us to feel the atmosphere of his works effortlessly. We can feel that the artist was deeply in love with his city.

 Shipping Policy 

Total shipping cost (including packing fees) must be covered by the buyer unless free shipping has been offered. Shipping rates are dependent on location and value when shipping insurance is applied, size and weight of each item. All items are shipping with full insurance. For international shipping that is going outside of the US will include the sales receipt with the full customs value. At all times the buyer must pay for customs, duties, and taxes. In the case that the piece has suffered any damage during delivery, please contact us within 7 days of receiving your item to report the damage. Please note that the damage must be photographed and all packing materials must be saved at the time of signature and reported immediately to us. We will then assist with any shipping damage claims or returns. Please also note that we cannot ship to P.O. BOX addresses.

 Return Policy 

If you wish to return your item please do so within 14 days of delivery date for a purchase refund, no reason necessary. Please note it is best to contact us within 7 days of receiving your item to make a return. Further, the item must be in the same condition as when sold. The refund will not include any shipping or packing fees and the return shipping must be covered by the buyer using the same shipping method on which they were received and insured for full retail value. A refund less the original shipping cost will be issued once the artwork has been received in the same condition as when it was shipped, including documents and packing materials. Please note that we will not be accepting for return after 14 days of the delivery date. However please also note that returns for items damaged during shipping or at the hand of the buyer will not be accepted after 14 days of the delivery date.
