Handmade in the ancient, prehispanic chipping-tecnique.
Made from Obsidian Stone which comes from the Cerro de Las Navajas mines, in Hidalgo, Mex.
The same mines where used since pre columbian times...
This knife
is a replica of the historic Maya/Aztec Sacrificial knife, called
TECPATL in the aztec nahuatl language.
Knife and handle measure ca. 18cm
Made by artisans in the town of
San Juan Teotihuacan, Mexico.
Made from sharp, volcanic Obsidian stone
The green ( malachite & resin) handle depicts a Maya Warrior Priest who wears an intrincated Headdress with a Pyramid Temple on it, along with other ornaments, while making a sacred blood offer, holding the offering in a Jicara Jar between his hands..
