The Wade Ceramics Limited has a long and complex history which began in 1867. Wade is well known in The British Isles for quality ceramics. In the 1930's thru the late 1950's Wade was producing miniature figurines, including Disney Cartoon figurines and Nursery Rhymes and animals. As part of a promotion for Red Rose Tea, small wade figurines were included with the tea boxes.

These became highly collectable and were saved and sold and traded, both on the North American Continent and in Europe. In the 1980's Wade introduced a new collectable line called 'Wimsey-on-Why' Village which is a series of miniature houses and buildings from a mythical English village. The village buildings were introduced at a rate of about 8 buildings per year from 1980 thru 1987.
