Very Rare Art Nouveau Wiener Werkstatte White Enamel Flower Design Brooch

This exceedingly rare brooch was handwrought around 1910 in Vienna Austria by a member of the famous Wiener Werkstatte. It is a large piece, measuring just under 1 3/4" in diameter. The brooch is round with a convex surface and features a geometric cloisonne enamel design of a flower surrounded by a border of concentric enamel circles. The enamel is in shades of pink, white, gray, and black, and is in very good original condition with minor wear according to age. The metal is thick and very heavy - either brass or copper - with a nice patina. The back has a pin stem and C-clasp, and is signed in a square: WIENER, WERK, STATTE.

This is a fantastic opportunity to own a piece of Wiener Werkstatte jewelry which rarely comes up for sale in the marketplace.

The Wiener Werkstatte was born of the Vienna Seccession, and was founded by Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser at the turn of the century as an artist's community dedicated to producing articles by hand. In addition to jewelry, they designed metalware, glass, ceramics, architecture and furniture, and textiles. In addition to Hoffmann and Moser, many famous artists, such as Dagobert Peche, Carl Otto Czeschka, and Eduard Josef Wimmer, designed for the Wiener Werkstatte. Items produced by the Wiener Werkstatte are known for their strong designs and are rare and extremely collectible.

Very good antique condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Some surface scratches according to age and use.
