Fender / Made in Japan CHAR MUSTANG Rosewood Fingerboard Olympic White [S/N:JD22023010]

Char Signature Mustang with Stratocaster functionality
Guitarist Char has had a huge influence on Japanese rock history and continues to be at the forefront of the rock scene today.
CHAR MUSTANG, which is based on the iconic OLYMPIC WHITE color MUSTANG that represents his career, is an unprecedented new MUSTANG that condenses various ideas unique to Char.
This model will be released as a MADE IN JAPAN product that will be easily accessible to more people.

Fender began selling the Mustang in 1964.
In the same year, the Olympic Games were held in Tokyo for the first time in Japan, and Char's guitar career started around that time.
More than 50 years later, it has been decided that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be held.
Taking this as an idea, we wondered if it would be possible to create a new MUSTANG made in Japan that would be easy for even beginners to pick up, and that would go back to MUSTANG's original "Student Model" concept, with colors associated with the Olympics. A project has started to embody Char's thoughts.

The specification concept for developing the model was "MUSTANG equipped with STRATOCASTER functionality".
A synchronized tremolo bridge has been newly developed to match the body thickness of MUSTANG, which is thinner than STRATOCASTER.
It is now possible to arm the STRATOCASTER while maintaining the playability and maneuverability that are unique to MUSTANG.
Additionally, at Char's request, the back panel of the body has been intentionally removed to create a simple style.
Additionally, it features a 3-position toggle switch that allows for more intuitive pickup operation. The control knob has been moved to a position closer to the strings so that you can control the volume with a feel similar to that of a STRATOCASTER, and the pickguard has an original shape unique to CHAR MUSTANG, which is not found on previous MUSTANGs.
Regarding the sound aspect of this CHAR MUSTANG, which has undergone various improvements, Char also praises the clear sound image in the bass position, saying, ``Now it sounds better,'' especially for the 5th and 6th strings.
