This is a charming and whimsical Antique Old 19th c. American Folk Art Horse Rural Farm Oil Painting on canvas, depicting a gray horse squaring off with a white goat inside of a small stable. The horse encounters this curious goat face-to-face, who stands on its hind legs, while another brown goat lays down beside it in repose. In the foreground, a small odd looking striped cat lays beside a food dish. Signed: "Moreland" in the lower left corner. I could not find any information on this painter, but perhaps you know more about them or their work? this small gem is approximately 9 x 12 inches. This piece likely dates to the 1870's - 1880's, and judging from the stretcher, is American in origin, and likely from the Northeastern U.S. Good condition for well over a century of age, with some craquelure, edge wear, scuffing, and one small tear in the lower left corner, which has been taped up on the verso (please see photos.) Acquired from an old collection in Los Angeles County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer.
