Matching Exceptional Students With Quality Instruments

One of the earliest Buffet Crampon clarinets we are offering for sale.  This is an R13 in Bb. S/n F537XX makes it about 1955—on of the first R13’s made.  It is in very good condition:  wood is a well-aged bit of grenadilla with surface wear and one very short crack on the inside of the socket on the lower joint. This did not go into the bore or seem to extend past the socket at all—and might not have been a crack at all--but we sealed it anyway just for peace of mind.  It is non-weightbearing due to the ring, and will never be a problem, regardless.  Other than that, no chips, cracks, pins or repairs.  Tenons are still nice and square with little to no wobble between joints, which is unusual for a clarinet of this vintage.  Nickel plating about 97% with just the least bit of wear starting.  Very recently overhauled in a combination of cork and bladder pads, all of which look like they’ve hardly been played at all.  Just through our shop where it was bore oiled, had one tenon cork replaced, and some very minor adjustments to bring it up into exceptional playing condition.  A very open, large-sounding clarinet compared to many modern horns, with very good intonation due at least in part to the included Moennig 66 barrel.  Hard case in good condition with some cosmetic wear, and a new ProTec handle cover over the exposed metal handle.  Cork grease and key oil are for local pickup only and will not be shipped, but it does include a vintage Selmer HS* hard rubber mouthpiece, Buffet cap and ligature, new Conn-Selmer swab, and four-space reed guard.  A crazy cheap, vintage R13 in hard-to-find condition!

We are always happy to consider reasonable offers on our auctions.

Purchases:  We strive to be accurate and detailed in our descriptions.  If you have any questions or concerns about a listing, please ask questions prior to bidding.  Photographs are considered a binding part of an item description.

Shipping:  Items are shipped after receipt and clearance of your payment.  We try to ship far ahead of the handling time listed in the auction.  Note that with international shipping, not all countries provide door-to-door tracking; therefore, buyer assumes full liability for item after leaving the United States.

Returns:  We have zero unhappy customers, and we have offered hassle-free returns for almost twenty years.  Unfortunately, due to rampant abuse of eBay's automated returns, and since PayPal no longer refunds sales fees, we have had to revise our return policy.  (1) If you are not satisfied with your purchase, please contact us PRIOR to initiating a return via eBay and allow us to address your concerns.  Many items such as clarinets and oboes come out of adjustment during the shipping process, and can be easily tweaked by your local technician.  We are happy to talk you through this process.  (2) Items may be returned for any reason at your expense within seven days of receipt for a full refund of the purchase price less shipping and eBay fees, which are not refundable. If on receipt we are able to verify the item to be significantly different than described, we will additionally refund original shipping, PayPal fees, and your return shipping to maximum of $30.00.

Non-paying Bidders:  We reserve the right to relist or otherwise dispose of any item if payment is not received with three days of the auction close.
