Offered here for your consideration is an extraordinarily fine set Meissen porcelain cabinet plates.
Additional Details:
Each with a scalloped gilt rim, a pierced or reticulated Neoclassical border with a left-hand twist, and centers with varying hand painted, blue underglaze scenes with cherubs or putti.

This border on this set is very finely worked with a rare variant on Meissen standard treatment of reticulation.

Simply an exceptionally sophisticated set of dinner-sized cabinet plates!

Provenance: From the estate of Catherine Spencer Eddy Beveridge (1881-1970), who was a Socialite and Philanthropist, wife of Senator Beveridge of Indiana, and niece of Marshall Filed and by descent in her family.

Date:
Late 19th or Early 20th Century

Overall Condition:
They are in overall, good, as-pictured, used estate condition, some very fine and light surface scratches, and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age.
Condition Details:
6 of the plates have apparent accretions in the glaze. On one, these accretions have come off taking the glaze with them. We have never seen this phenomenon before, and we suspect that it happened in the firing. We also suspect that the factory accepted them as 'factory firsts' because they are technically so incredibly difficult to make.

6 are in otherwise very good condition.
Maker:
Meissen Porcelain Manufactory
Marks:
Blue underglaze crossed swords factory mark, impressed 109 and 138
Measurements:
Diameter: 9 3/4 in.

Height: 1 1/4 in.
