“WHO OOO YOU LOOKING AT?” Great Horned Owl Embroidered Life Size in 22” x 14” Blue Velvet Soft Sculpture Frame. The Great Horned Owl is the largest of the "tufted" owls in North America. They stand anywhere from 18 to 25 inches tall. This embroidered horned owl stands 21” tall. (The great horned owls have a wingspan 45” to 60” when open). His face is dominated by the large tufts or "horns".
I spent an enjoyable 33 hours embroidering over 2000 hand stitches in this 3 dimensional art work. Thick colorful 100% Persian-type wool yarn and baby soft yarn was used on a 12 mesh interlock cotton canvas. The background is Longstitch Needlepoint, while the owl is Crewel embroidery. This large colorful yarn work is like painting with yarn.
Horned owls large feet are feathered to ends of their toes, and their white bib is quite thick. I used a one bristle dental pick to fluff up his feathers to full size in appropriate places.
This Great Horned Owl Embroidered is Life Size at 22" x 14"" in Hommade Blue Velvet Soft Sculptured Frame attached with staples and double sided tape and sewn to 4 thicknesses of cardboard. The back has a white muslin sewn to it. A ring is sewn to the top center back and it is ready for hanging. The large frame is very plush stuffed to 1 1/2" thick with irregular shaped foam rubber.
