This is a 100% original 1962 Silvertone 1423 Jupiter guitar made by Harmony in the U.S.A. Includes original chipboard case with cool 2-tone exterior and blue interior. Considering their age, the case and guitar are in exceptional condition and are probably the best examples that I've seen. The 1423 Jupiter is virtually identical to the Harmony H49 Stratotone. It was offered from 1959 to 1963 and was one of Silvertone's more expensive guitars. Later models lacked the raised metal Silvertone letters on the headstock.

The neck has a well-rounded C-shaped profile and pearloid block inlays. The frets have plenty of life remaining. There is one indentation on the fretboard at the 1st fret, between the D and G string, (closer to the G). Again, this can only be seen up close in certain lighting, and has no effect on playing. The guitar has a 24 1/4" scale with a straight neck and fully operational truss rod. The nut measures 1 3/4" in width.

All electronics work properly. Hardware includes the original Brazilian rosewood floating bridge and nickel trapeze tailpiece. There are Volume and Tone knobs for each pickup and a 3-way pickup selector, including "Blender". This knob allows you to mix the amount of Bridge and Neck pickups for a variety of tones. The pickups have a strong, clear output. Both pickups have Rowe Industries stickers and are dated June 25, 1962.

This guitar has a Black Sparkle finish that was exclusive to Sears. Although having a few very minor marks here and there as expected, the top, back, binding and headstock are incredibly clean - probably cleaner than anything else on the market. Up close in certain lighting, you can see some faint finish checking on the top and back. There is one very small nick on the back of the neck, but you can't see or feel anything while playing. There are a few spots on the edges of the headstock, one very small indent on the side of the lower bout bass side and some very faint smudges - that's it (See Photos). Some lines or mark that may appear in the photos are just glare or reflections. Like the case, the guitar is probably as clean as anything out there. It plays great, has low action and stays in tune for days.
