This is an auto-focus lens that doubles as a (D) lens. It works with AI/AI-S Nikons and can be used manually, as well as an auto lens. Nikon doesn't make these like this anymore. It is the best of both worlds.

This is a very versatile lens that works on multiple Nikon platforms from film to digital - manual and auto focus. The AI platform goes back to 1977. Nikons CURRENT DIGITAL, plus: FM, FE, F2A, F2AS, EL2 F100 (AND MANY MORE) can use this lens. The AI tab can be seen on the bottom view photo. The dust came from the room where I took the photos.

Since this lens is nearly 20 years old, there is no warranty, either expressed or implied. It is definitely NOT DOA.

• This is an FX (full frame) lens.it works on the DX cameras as well. The lens was disconnected before 2010. I picked it up to fill my telephoto gap to 200mm. This lens has seen minimal usage since I bought it.

• The 28mm end us perfectly for landscapes and groups of people. But I've been into ultra-wide for over 40 years - using a 20mm to cover the wide end. I also have an 18-35mm zoom from that time frame. But my visit to Meteor Crater in Arizona proved that I need to go even wider angle.

• For most photographers this 28-200mm is more than most requirements. If you use it on a DX camera, the focal length increases by 1.5X. I had this on my film camera (Nikon F-100) for 15+ years. This lens will cover more cameras and situations than any other Nikon lens.

The lens is in excellent working and cosmetic condition. It uses 72mm front filters. The auto-focus feature ensures that you capture sharp and clear images. It is compatible with Nikons 1977 to present models (digital and film). It is the perfect addition to your photography equipment, especially if you are getting started in photography. It is the closest thing to "one size fits all."
