Care

Silk is a great fabric for all seasons. Lightweight, breathable, it travels well. It can be hand washed or dry cleaned. If cared for, it can last for years.

To Dry Clean

Make sure to let the cleaner know NOT to Spot Clean! Just have them put the piece in with their other color loads. Finding a quality cleaner is key.

To Hand Wash

To carefully hand wash, put in tub or sink with COLD water. Add some shampoo (baby shampoo is gentle and safe.) Swish. Rinse in COLD water.

NOTE: you may see some color bleed out…it will be faint and nothing to worry about. This is normal. Squeeze excess water out as best as you can. You can roll in a dark towel to get the water out or you can put in the washing machine and pull on spin dry for about 20 seconds to get the drip out.

Using clothes pins, Hang the piece upside down along 2 parallel clothes lines or 2 hangers, separating the front from the back. You can put a fan on it to dry quickly.

Doing all these steps quickly and not leaving the wet silk all bunched in a ball is important. (This is where the possibility of bleeding and dye transfer can happen.)

You can press the dried washed silk with a hot iron…there is no right or wrong side to the fabric.

If the above washing scares you, best to dry clean.
