This is a wonderful and Fine Antique Old Dutch Master 19th c. Nautical Seascape Oil Painting on canvas, depicting several 19th century Dutch schooners and small boats, mooring and beaching their vessels along a calm shoreline. Several deckhands can be seen toiling about the vessels, while other figures carry long handled fish nets, and carry buckets of shellfish in their hands, or over their shoulders. This artwork is rendered in a vivid and refined Impressionist manner and is signed: "H. Van Houghton" in the lower left corner. I could not find any biographical information on this immensely talented turn of the century painter, but perhaps you know more about them or their work? This piece likely dates to the 1880's - 1910's. Approximately 29 1/2 x 37 1/4 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 22 x 30 inches. Good condition for over a century of age and storage, with mild - moderate scuffing and edge wear to the original hand carved gilded wood frame, and several streaks of faint discoloration across the painted surface (please see photos carefully.) Acquired from an old collection in Los Angeles County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer.
