ANA MEDAL APPEARANCE/CONDITION:
TOP POP: Gilt Variety - Brilliant Gem+
*Stunning eye-appeal on this brilliant, untoned example of extraordinary rarity. Grading just above brilliant gem, this stunning specimen is in near perfect condition; Design matches its bronze and silver counterparts of the same design.*

ANA MEDAL BACKGROUND:
Commemorates the grand opening of the American Numismatic Association's (A.N.A.) headquarter building in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
—————
An exceedingly rare issue that is potentially unique. I have never seen another example struck in gilt; neither have big names in the field such as renowned numismatist John Dean. It’s possible this was a trial strike or a presentation piece at the time it was made. All other issues of this design were struck in bronze/silver and sold as a set. Never was a gold plated variety included, nor mentioned. The mystery surrounding this piece is fascinating.

DESIGNER: Robert A Weinman

RARITY: Unknown; Likely extremely rare — Potentially unique
Possibly a trial strike or presentation piece.
