An original Georgian British Sundial Georgian dating to 1790-1810 complete with ornate gnomon.

A lovely aged green patination - not a reproduction. See images which form part pf the description.

Centre has typical sun face, compass markings (solar) and Roman numbers marking the time from 4am to 7pm.

The rear is interesting where it appears some practice engraving has taken place 2x VI & 2x eyes, typical of clockmakers work, but nice to see.

Original gnomon present & complete with no damage, secure with some movement. Surface shows some high wear as expected from 200+ years exposed to the British elements. Ready to fit onto a suitable plinth.

Latitude is 51 degrees. Can still be used to set time accurately.

This dial must have graced a Georgian gentlemans garden, probably used to set his house house clocks rather than for ornamental purposes. Dials were often supplied with a clock for regulation purposes.

Dial is probably bronze although could be brass. Plinth is for illustration only.

NOTE this is not a reproduction, an original dial complete.

Measures 20.5cm or 8 inches
