First Communion, Cross, Flowers, Dedicated, 1923
This beautiful antique French painting on board depicts an angel raising a chalice toward Heaven with the Host surrounded by rays and the monogram of Jesus, “IHS”. A rosary with a cross is suspended from the knee of the angel above a basket of flowers held up by two other angels. There is an engraved dedication on the lower right corner: “André, ce souvenir le jour Première communion. Son tonton Marcel de Paris. Monaco. 21 mai 1923”. It indicates that the painting was offered by an uncle to his nephew for his first communion in Monaco. This painting is in very good condition with the exception of signs of normal age and use.
