GASPARIN
Y Su Conjunto
“GASPARIN Y SU CONJUNTO”
MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original Philips Records
very first Mono press released, made and distributed in Chile in 196? by Discos
Philips (Philips Records), catalog number 14835, with machine etched matrix
number 82083 1L 14835-A in Side 1 and 82083 2L 14835-B in Side 2, with traditional
blue/silver Philips Records labels of the period, with silver “Philips” and
logo at top. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!
The first to say it’s that Gasparín is the name
adopted by the legendary Argentinian accordionist Julio Erman, when he signed
with Philips Records in 1955. More than 50 LP’s were released by Gasparín, an infaltable name in the parties mostly late ‘50’s and the ‘60’s, not only in Argentina, also in other
South American countries. This album, “Gasparín Y Su Conjunto”, with 4
potpourries of mostly traditional “Tropical” Latin and Folk songs doesn’t have
the year of release informed, but the Chilean catalog number proves this record
was released in 1963, but the blue/silver Philips labels appeared in the second
half of the ‘60’s. The matrix number proves the record was released late 1965
or early 1966, so it’s almost a fact this record was released in Chile in 1966,
it could be a second press, considering the original Chilean catalog number,
14835, proves the year is 1963. And like usual those years, we got it with an
UNIQUE COVER, made of a single piece of thin cardboard folded in the middle
faking a gatefold cover and kept together inside a plastic bag. Front cover has
a very nice drawing of Gasparín and his accordion cheering up a party, with the
name of the band and the Philips logo and catalog number at top right corner.
Back cover has the same design, but the drawing in blue color only, with the
tracklist with full credits for songwriters. In labels it’s the name of the
band and song titles are written in Spanish only, with full credits for
songwriters. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE ALBUM by
this legendary Argentinian band Gasparín Y Su Conjunto, with instrumental
versions of traditional mostly “Tropical” and Folk Latin songs of the ‘60’s,
played with his accordion in a style which we could easily call Tropical
Lounge, a rare record, ALMOST NEVER SEEN and with UNIQUE COVER, maybe auctioned here in eBay
by the very first time!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of
Gasparín Y Su Conjunto and Easy Listening/Tropical Lounge music made to dance!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in great EX- or
EX condition, clean and clear, with some wear in edges, more evident in corners,
with age browning and faint blemishes, some creases and very light ring marks. The
record is in strong EX- or EX condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many
scuffs, some light hairlines and some very soft scratches, hard to see at first
sight, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in superb NM- or NM condition
both sides, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear. The sound is the
best part, it’s in strong NM- or NM condition both sides, loud, clean and
clear, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from
Chile), with only minimal and barely audible occasional soft crackles here and
there, a little bit more evident in the silent parts between the tracks, which don’t
really cause any distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps
from the beginning to the end. Overall, maybe this is not a record for the
strictest Minty minds or audiophiles, but for sure it’s still a record with a
nice glossy look, almost immaculate labels and superb sound quality after about
57 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector
who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean record. Just try to remember
how many times have you seen this record before, your own answer will tell you
how much rare it’s. And keep in mind the UNIQUE COVER, only used here in Chile!!!

American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and
don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this
record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…
Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best

We don’t use the generic “VG”
most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or
“Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in
professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a
little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can
use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this
grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record
itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound
quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing
the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or
poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but
there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which
doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or
creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but
displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface
marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or
extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has
noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The
cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits,
discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for
properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface
noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is
unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the
buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of
sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know
that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive
the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive
feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who
receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
