About

The iconic costume designer to Cher -Bob Mackie is world renowned for his elegant, yet sexy designs. And of course his hand beading. This hand beaded bustier - three-piece suit is a wonderful example of the attention to detail that the Bob Mackie Boutique vintage label exemplifies. The jacket, skirt, and bustier are fully lined.

The Bustier alone is a showstopper within itself!!!

It’s fully covered in hand beading , front to back, and encased in a separate beading detail on the edges.

There is a seam detail throughout the jacket that shape it beautifully. The skirt has darts that add shape to the waist. The jacket lapel and bustier are embellished with white ‘pearl’ seed beading. And more white, silver and pink beading around the trim.

There is also an invisible side zip in the bustiers as well as in the center back of the skirt. The jacket has a single button closure.

Flaws to the bustier include:

1. One bead missing on the very front center of the bustier. It is not noticeable and difficult to see. The area is circled it pictures #16 & #18.

2. Two very light runs on the back bottom area of the bustier. Also not noticeable. This area is circled in CLOSEUP pictures #17 & #18.

3. A couple of sequins have chipped. See CLOSEUP on picture #18. Not noticeable.

4. Some miniscule pulls where the beading is. See CLOSEUP on picture #18. Also, difficult to see

There are several flaws on the jacket. See picture #21 for the flaws that I could point out:

There a light stain below the elbow of the left sleeve, as well as a pen mark and some fabric runs there.

There are light scuff marks on the top of left shoulder seam towards the back and a light run on the back of that sleeve.

There is a run in the fabric on the back right hand side of the jacket. Some of the small beading, seems to be missing from what I could tell. See photo #21 of the lapel for an example. I did circle the flaws that I could readily see.

The skirt has a tiny run on the left side and one on the front.

See the last two photos for a picture of this.

There may be some more flaws along the lines of what I have pointed out that I did not see. So please note there are minor flaws throughout, including light runs to the fabric and some, very few, missing beading.

The flaws are not readily noticeable, however, I wanted to point them out in detail, since there are several of them. Yet also, it is undeniable to me how gorgeous and rare this piece is, and how beautiful the sewing and hand beading is. I could not let it go to waste

This piece is extremely gorgeous. May need a little TLC.
