1991 Custom Shop made, 54ST in stock!
This 54ST is a reproduction of the Strat's first year, with an ash body and 2pcs center. There is a red Custom Shop stamp on the neck joint cavity and a similar stamp can be seen under the paint on the control cavity. The neck is plain maple with a triangle shape. The frets have been replaced, but are a slender vintage size. The fretboard surface is 9.5" R with a Custom Shop-like finish. The fretboard surface was refinished when the frets were replaced. The center PU has been replaced with a DiMaggio HS-3, and the front and rear PUs have been removed from the original pots, so it is hard to determine that they are original, but the DC resistance value is about 6.0k for the front and 6.8k for the rear, so we judge that they are original from the appearance. The center tone pot has solder marks, as if the wiring had been changed. The controls are 3-way, and the rear tone is not controlled by the traditional original controls.
The body has wipe scratches, scuffs, line scratches, and dents. The pickguard has picking scratches throughout. There is a scratch on the cutaway edge of the top 6-string side of the body, and a small paint reaction on the opposite side of the body on the 1-string side. The right side of the body has scratches and line scuffs all over the body, and there are small paint peels and scratches around the body end strap pins. There is a fist-sized buckle scratch on the lower right portion of the body back, and there is some chrome peeling due to tightening by the screw holes on the upper left side of the neck joint plate. There is a ding on the back of the neck at the base of the head, and a ding on the center of the back of the neck after the 8th floor, which may be from an accessory or a stand. There are a few scratches and dings around the head, and the brand logo decal is chipped. The pickguard mounting screws have been replaced, as well as the back panel and its mounting screws. The 1ply pickguard is in good condition considering the age of the guitar, although the hardware is a little worn and has some scratches.
The neck condition is fine, and the truss rod can be adjusted in the tightening or loosening direction, and can still be turned and adjusted in the tightening direction. There are no string marks on the frets and about 70% of the strings are left. Currently, the string height is adjusted at about 2.0mm on the 12F 6th string side and about 1.5mm on the 1st string side.
Overall, there are some refinishings on the fretboard surface due to PU replacement and fret replacement, but the feel of use is commensurate with the age of the instrument. There is no "nicotine" feeling, which is common, and it can be seen that the guitar was treated as a normal guitar, not as a collection item. The way the serial number is struck and the atmosphere looks like the vintage series of that time, but there is no problem with the Custom Shop made guitars of that time like this. Warranty and certification from the authorized dealer at the time of purchase are also included.
