Awsome and beautiful, gets 18 feet tall in the right conditions.  We don't dig it from our patch untill we ship it to you, you will have it a few days after, Rhizomes are viable for long time. This is a black running bamboo, but easily contained. You will get  2 Rhizomes, after it grows 1 year you easily have enough to spit up and landscape anywhere you would like to. Phyllostachys Nigra. This is the most exotic and desired bamboo species for its beauty. Creates a great fence or privacy screen. A slow running bamboo, it forms clumps of slender arching canes which turn black after two or three seasons. The abundant lance-shaped leaves are 2–5 in long.

Plant the bamboo Root/Rizome in full sun outdoors. Never let the soil dry out. Patience is key. It may take some time for a new shoot to emerge. The 1st year after transplant is spent establishing the root system. 2nd year produces 6 to 8ft canes.

Note: The shoot may not appear for some time. Don't Panic! It will eventually shoot a plant. It spends the 1st year establishing its roots underground. It will shoot 2 to 6 foot canes in the spring. Easy To Start. Canes come up green and turn black with sun, the more sun the darker they get. Comes up taller Thicker and darker every season. In California I often get new canes in spring and fall. Not sure if that happens in other growing conditions probably only the spring most places.
