Hello, you are bidding no reserve on the opportunity to purchase this stunning and fully restored 1900-1910 Goyard Courier 110 Trunk

This trunk is truly the epitome of luxury, and has been fully restored to its original grandeur, waiting to dazzle the guests of your home!

This piece went though a full cosmetic restoration after 110 years of use (and abuse). The trunk was stripped down the cask (wooden shell) and reworked with top quality period correct parts (where needed) imported from France. New Goyardine Chevron tri-color coated canvas was re-created to replace the worn, aged and previously painted original canvas. This is true faithful recreation of the contemporary chevron canvas.

The edging was replaced with matched lozine, embossed with the proper Goyard signature lines. Each edging nail (over 1000!) was imported from France and is 100% solid brass just as the factory still issues today.

The original latches and locking Hasp was removed, polished, re-nailed and re-riveted to the trunk by hand as it would have been done by goyard of the period. Please note one of the latches is broken, but retained for originality

The original Goyard slats were removed, sanded and reapplied to this piece. They have some signs of wear, but are in good pre owned condition.

The interior of the trunk was refurbished to with an original style fabric lining, and quilted lid to hold photographs or tickets for a trip across the world.

This trunk is a full size piece measuring 110 cm x 50cm x50cm and will no doubt make a great coffee table, end of bed accent or home decor, and the usability of the interior storage space is a huge extra bonus.

Condition:

Since the trunk was restored it was used as a coffee table, the canvas has some minor signs of wear. The interior smells of material, a “glue” smell. Minor imperfections on the interior. The brassware was all polished but has tarnish on it throughout.

Don’t pass up this opportunity! A trunk of this size with this caliber of restoration doesn’t come up for sale often and the cost of restoration goes up everyday! You don’t want to pass this up. A contemporary Goyard equivalent of this trunk would need to be commissioned and would retail for over $20,000-$40,000

This item is a authentic Goyard piece, the shell is over 100 years old, and just as at times it’s necessary to repaint or replace the interior of a fine classic car over the years and miles these trunks are just the same.

To some collectors such a comprehensive restoration takes away from the value of the piece, and this item is perhaps not for them.

However, this trunk has been fully restored to the caliber of what would’ve left the Goyard workshop 100 years ago, down to the brass nails and methods of construction. The restoration alone was a work that took over 160 hours to remove, restore, replace and reassemble the trunk. To hire a professional to build to those level would be $8-10,000 in labor alone, less the imported French brassware. To a true enthusiast of the brand or just an admirer of classic travel trunks this piece still retains tons of character and this restoration will ensure this piece will last and be treasured for another 110 years!
