Was ist stabilisiertes Holz? 

Das stabilisierte Holz von PLEXIHOLZ (ehem. puq stabwood) ist ein ungiftiger Hybrid-Werkstoff. Mit dem anerkannten puq-Verfahren werden natürliche Hölzer mit sehr hoher Durchdringung auf Basis von Methylmethacrylat (MMA) gefärbt und stabilisiert. Die verwendeten Farbstoffe sind lichtbeständig, abriebfest und lebensmittelecht. Bei hohen Temperaturen wird PMMA weich, daher sollte die Oberflächentemperatur des Werkstücks 85°C nicht überschreiten. PMMA ist nicht spaltüberbrückend und kann natürlich vorkommende Risse nur bedingt schließen. Offene Maseraugen, Einwachsungen oder Risse lassen sich jedoch sehr gut nachträglich mit Epoxyd- oder Cyanacrylatklebern schließen. Unser Stabwood lässt sich gewohnt wie andere Harthölzer schleifen, sägen, drechseln, polieren, fräsen, etc. und ist somit eine sehr dekorative Evolution von traditionellem Holz.

What is stabwood? 

Our stabilized wood is a non-toxic hybrid material. With the recognized puq process we dye and stabilize natural wood on the basis of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). The dyes used are light-resistant, abrasion-resistant and food-safe. At high temperatures PMMA becomes soft so the surface temperature of the workpiece should not exceed 185°F. PMMA is not gap-bridging and can only close naturally occurring cracks to a limited extent. Open burl-cracks or  ingrowths can be very well sealed afterwards with epoxy or cyanoacrylate adhesives. As other hardwoods our Material can be grinded, drilled, polished, matted or milled and thus is an evolution of traditional wood.
