Guily JOFFRIN (1909-2006)


First entered the École supérieure Sophie-Germain, received in 1928 at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the studio of Lucien Simon, she worked there for several years alongside Rhoner, Humblot, Jacques Despierre, Lucien Fontanarosa etc. .

There she jointly prepared drawing teacher diplomas from the city of Paris and the State, which she passed successfully. She taught in Paris, Aurillac as well as at the École Normale of this city. In 1945, she left teaching to devote herself solely to her career as a painter and illustrator.

The human face particularly interests her; she creates numerous portraits, particularly of personalities from the arts and letters.

A large part of his work is devoted to compositions in which the female nude plays an important role. He was asked to illustrate numerous books and composed stained glass windows for two churches in Brittany.
