Bike is appropriate for either the vintage retro grouch in love with excessive "patina" or a restorer who wants to bring it back to its former showroom glory.
I age it to 1985 based on the manufacturing codes of all the Shimano 600 parts, and the fact that it has a decal touting awards won in 1984.
Parts are in excellent shape, all Shimano 600 group
Downtube shifting 2 x 7 with rear indexed
Single pivot brakes
Classic, mint toeclip pedals
Also near perfect Cinelli bars and stem
53-39 crankset 170mm arms, rings look unused
Campy headset
SR fluted seatpost with a forgetable saddle
Beutiful lugwork
36-spoke anodized Mavic GL330s which are sew ups... i know a pain in the butt, but period-correct.  Brake surface is still intact ano.
Gum hoods in great shape with some minor scrapes to the levers
A948 serial number harkens back to when four digits was enough!
Still appears to have 100mm/130mm spacing for hubs
This is a really cool bike with a jacked paintjob.  If I bought it, I would have it stripped and painted exactly how I wanted it.  It's up to you! (oh and get some clinchers!)
