Antique 1879 Zsolnay from “The Old Ivory” pink series charger, which depicts traditional tales in cameo form on the item. I am not sure of what tale is depicted on this charger.

A beautifully crafted Zsolnay Hungary historical-style decorative charger from the Old Ivory series. Porcelain faience painted with an ivory-colored glaze in the pink series. They were made in different colours. I’ve seen the pink, cream, and green versions, I’m sure there must have been others. There are Zsolnay catalogues out there, and of course Museums that hold examples.

This has relief ornamentation features mythological scenes.

This is in excellent Antique condition. There is a small hairline crack and crazing commensurate for age

The mark is consistent for it to have been made in 1879

This is a rare & valuable item very hard to come by.

I have sold a small restored vase from “the old Ivory” Green series back to Hungary but there is a big tax bill for purchasers to pay. So buyers beware.
