AUTOart 1/18 Porsche 356 No.1 Silver Finished Product 78072 JAPAN

AUTOart 1/18 scale, die-cast miniature car.

The "Porsche 356 No.1" was the first car produced under the brand name "Porsche" and was built in Gmund, Austria in 1948.
This commemorative first prototype sports car became a topic of conversation when Porsche, celebrating its 70th anniversary as an automobile manufacturer, produced a replica of the car itself this year.
While many problems occurred during the chaotic period after World War II, design and development continued under the leadership of Ferry Porsche, son of Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, and was completed in June 1948.
Unlike the later mass-produced "356," it adopted a midship layout with a 1.1-liter air-cooled horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine for Volkswagen, whose output was increased to 35 PS, mounted in the middle of a tubular steel space frame.
Weighing only 585 kg, the car's top speed was 135 km/h. It competed in a number of races and performed well.
It competed in a number of races and achieved good results, demonstrating from the outset its outstanding capabilities as a sports car manufacturer.
