20: 1950-60s 10ct United States America Air Force Insignia Ring T/10 17.7g

This is a military insignia ring that would have been worn by a serviceman of the United States of America Airforce (U.S.AS.A.F.). We date to around the 1950s-60s based on a previously listed Korean War Marine Corps pattern. It is stamped 10k for its 10ct 417 yellow gold fineness; the maker’s to poorly struck to read.

It has a flat tapering band that broadens and rises at the shoulder to morph into a rectangular top. This runs across the finger and has chamfered side and a curved top and bottom edge. Deliberately highlighted in black patina the centre is embossed with the USAAF insignia of a spread wing eagled over a shield with propeller surrounded by lightening bolts.  Above this it says, “United States” and below “Air Force”. Both sides of the top have a blackened geometric wing shape decoration.

We have listed other military, men’s, unisex and dress rings along with other antique, vintage, and fine jewellery this week, please refer to our other listings.

It’s in excellent vintage condition; no damage or faults to report; some light rub wear, and a warm vintage patina. The photos form part of the condition description.

Measures: across base of shoulders 22mm x W17.26mm x H3.55mm, 5.7mm rear band thickness, T/10; 17.7g.
