This beautifully presented Yamaha R1 4XV is the earliest model available, being sold at Shirlaws Motorcycles, Scotland in February 1998. The Chassis number is 19XX and therefore within the first 2,000 R1’s ever manufactured.

The bike was mainly part of a large collection only being ridden 3,517 miles up to 2008. The original owner died and the estate was sold off, including this R1.

It was then purchased by a collector who owned the bike until 2020. The MOT history corroborates that it was held in the collection until its sale at a Hobbs Parker, Ashford auction where this R1 only gained 41 miles in the 12 years being sold with 3,562 miles. The new buyer, an older gentleman purchased the R1 to rekindle his younger days from the 90’s on the bike he’d always dreamed of having and rode 268 miles.

The R1 was then traded in part ex at Alsford Brothers, Yamaha, Folkestone and was purchased by the Yamaha salesmen himself where it received a full service and up to date tyres.

The R1 then gained its most recent owner in April 2023 who appreciated the bike for what it is, a stunning example of an iconic superbike that paved the way for modern superbikes as they are today. The most recent owner brought the mileage up to 4,322 before selling on to make way for a brand new motorcycle from Alford Brothers Yamaha.

This motorcycle is accompanied with the original two keys, a new service pack, most recent service invoice, the original paperwork wallet and key chain from Shirlaws Motorcycles which beautifully compliments the original dealer stamped numberplate from 1998.

Don’t miss the opportunity to own such an iconic example, recently been detailed to a high standard.
