Rare Tiger Maple Antique Genuine Shaker Oval Fingered Box, 19th C. .  AAFA

Small genuine early 19th c. antique Shaker oval box!
Measuring  7-1/4" wide x 3" high!
Three finely carved swallowtail fingers....two on body and single on lid.
Constructed of pine top and bottom boards, and Tiger maple side walls.
The use of special tiger maple wood suggests this box was made for a special member of the community( possibly an important member)  as tiger maple wood was rarely used in the manufacture of oval Shaker boxes in the 19th c.!
Fingers secured with hand cut copper tacks.
Top and bottom secured with copper pins.
Wonderful natural patina.
Wonderful patina and stripe to the tiger maple wood.
Dates 1840-60, this box represents/shows evidence of early 19th c. manufacture
New England origin.
These genuine 19th c. antique Shaker boxes have become increasingly hard to find in this condition.
THE USE OF TIGER MAPLE WOOD IS RARE IN ANTIQUE SHAKER OVAL BOXES!!!! and makes this box special!
Label on bottom of box indicates it was purchased by previous collector in 1969.
Bottom board has a minor check line, and top band of lid has an old hairline that was glued a long time ago and is almost invisible, but mentioned for accuracy.
