This fine signed Japanese carved boxwood netsuke features a beautifully detailed standing Foo Lion grasping a pearl of wisdom. The carved boxwood wood is a beautiful lustrous and finely grained golden brown.  The eyes of the little animal look to be inset black glass.  The netsuke stands 1 7/8" tall x 1 1/2" deep x 7/8" wide.  It is in excellent undamaged condition. I think it dates to c. 1935.
