I  lived in West Berlin during the 1970s (Cold War era) and took full advantage of the opportunity to collect dolls from all over Europe at that time. I had a particular affinity for the unique, the hand-made or something of historical significance.  This item met all three.
All  of these have been safely stored, neither played with nor displayed. They are all in pristine condition.
But now it is time to downsize.

This doll's clothing and accessories are emblematic of the great variations in Russian folk culture and history. . He is charming and reminiscent of a time when one had  different image of what is traditionally Russian. I have listed another set of dolls to this. His base is 4" long, and he stands 7.5 inches tall.

During this time, it was challenging to get things like this due to the tensions of the era. That is why this doll and the others mean so much. This item is in near -perfect condition due to the storage, and it's hard to believe it is nearly 50 years old.
