Description

Nvidia Quadro FX 4600 (442154-001 44228-001)

The Nvidia Quadro FX 4600 is an enthusiast-class professional graphics card launched by Nvidia on March 5, 2007. Built using the 90nm process and based on the G80 graphics processor in its G80-850-A2 variant, this card supports Directx 11.1, but it is important to note that the supported feature level is only 10_0. This can cause problems with many newer Directx 11 and Directx 12 titles.

The G80 graphics processor is a sizable chip with a die area of 484 mm² and 681 million transistors. Unlike the fully unlocked GeForce 8800 GTX, which uses the same GPU but with all 128 shaders enabled, Nvidia disabled some shading units on the Quadro FX 4600 to achieve the product's intended shader count. The card has 96 shading units, 24 texture mapping units and 24 ROPs.

The Quadro FX 4600 is equipped with 768 MB of GDDR3 memory connected via a 384-bit memory interface. The GPU operates at a frequency of 500MHz, while the memory works at 700MHz.

In terms of power, the card requires a 6-pin power connector and has a maximum claimed consumption of 134W. Video outputs include 2 DVI connectors and 1 S-Video connector.

The Quadro FX 4600 is connected to the system via an interface PCI-Express 1.0 x16 and is dual-slot. The dimensions of the card are 229mm in length, 111mm in width and features a dual-slot cooling solution.
