Grateful Dead Backstage Pass : 1981 : " Dead Set !!! " Art ! - by Barsotti / Larkins !! : Winter Tour '81 ! : December 5, 1981 ( 12/5/81 : 12/5/1981 ) - Market Square Arena - Indianapolis, Indiana ( IN ) : The ' Last & Final ! ' Dead Show ' Ever !! ' at Market Square ! - in Indianapolis !! : 1981 Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. ( GDP ) - Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) : Very-Rare !!!

Grateful Fans !!! ... '81 ' Live-Dead ' Fans !! ... & Deadheads from Indiana !!!  As I sure-do hope You ! saw This-One !!! ... G.D. 12/5/81 at " Market Square " - on the 1981 Winter Tour !!!  As after-all ... how can it get ' Cold ' at all - in the Dead ! of Winter ... when the Grateful Dead are This ! Hot !!! - '81 Winter Tour ... in Hoosierville ! - Rock & Roll !!!  Offered here is the Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) Grateful Dead Backstage Pass ( sticker-patch / satin ) for the December 5, 1981 ( 12/5/81 ) Market Square Arena Show in Indianapolis, Indiana ( IN ) !!!  Just around " Hurts So Good " time for John Cougar - as I'm wondering if He ! was in Market Square too ? ... on 12/5/81 !!!  Ain't That ! America !! - Ha !  And too - I mean ... Whoa !?!?! ... This Show was Hot !!  This Tour Stop in Indianapolis was only the 3rd Night on a short & brief ... but Red-Hot ! Grateful Dead ' Winter ' Tour in '81 - with likely the greatest importance being ... " So Boys, just How-Was that Europe Tour !!?! ".  Do you catch my drift on this one ?  There were only really six ( 6 ) ' immediate ' chances to hear how things were sounding for the Band - after a fairly-sizable, and significantly underrated ! " Europe '81 " Tour !  A sort of " Home at ( instead of Winterland ) - University of Illinois > Madison, Wisconsin > Market Square in Indiana > the Rosemont Horizon in Illinois > Des Moines, IA > University of Colorado - at Boulder ! ".  Well, you know - not quite ' Home ' - but still definitely " back-home " in the Good Ol' U.S.A. ... with the U.S. Dead Fans !!!  And, I must proudly admit ... that the " Very-First-Taste " I ever scored on tape of this '81 Mini-Tour in the Winter was from This-Here ! 12/5/81 Market Square Show, and ... I kind of did a bit of a double-take - because I really was short on '81 G.D. following the Europe Tour ?!?  And oh my ... these Tapes were personally recommended to me by a trusted " Taper-Friend " in the Late-1980's - and I so-gladly took the suggestion seriously !  I mean people ... this is flat-out Fiery ! Early-'80's Dead - with Garcia just delivering Fret-Board-Fury ! all-throughout this Entire ! Show.  In the '80's the ' Soundboards ' from this run were indeed few & far between - as most Folks I knew at the time were circulating Audiences - and, very-nice ones at that.  Everybody seemed to want these Shows dialed - as the Band was So-Hot !  Some of the Prime / Primary days of the " Lay it All-Out " '80's G.D. Attitude ! - with copious-chances being taken.  These were still the days where a 10-Song 1st Set was still a distinct possibility - and at this Show ... you bet - the Band delivered one - and delivered it with Fire !!  The Dead only ever played 3-Shows ever at " Market Square " - between 1976 and 1981 ( '76 - '79 - 81 ) with this 12/5/1981 night indeed being the Last& Final.  As ' after ' this - they played one ( 1 ) Indiana-Show at the " Indianapolis Sports Center " - and surprisingly ( or, not that surprisingly ... ) All ! of the rest of " Indiana " Dead-Shows were played at Deer Creek !  So really ... that's what makes this 12/5/81 Show unique too - from a ' taping ' standpoint - as this and the '84 Indy Sports Center Show were the Last-Two Indiana " Indoor Venue " Shows to tape, and - not only tape ... but also hear & enjoy as a Fan - for all those out-there that believe that Rock & Roll is at it's best - when heard " Indoors ".  But, you know - opinions, opinions ... Ha !  And, at any rate - this Show was Stocked-Full ! of G.D. Heat !! ... Alabama > Promised ! to open the Show !  C.C. Rider was downright Mean ! ... & Thank You Bobby Weir !! - Cumberland > El Paso ! followed - and seemed it might ' steal ' the 1st Set Show - but, after the Ramble One ... it went like This ! >>> Passenger - Bird Song > Let It Grow !!!  And, let me tell you ... while the Passenger Rocked !? - the Let It Grow Exploded !!!  So-So ! Hot ...  And then for Set II ?  Ha !!  You betcha ... Just ! like we like it best ... Shakedown !! Opener !!! > Sailor > Saint - Big Railroad Blues !!! - with Garcia " On-Pure-Fire " !!! - Playin' > Drums / Space > Wheel > Playin' ! > Stella > Sugar Magnolia !!!  Oh ! - and too, naturally ... One More Saturday Night ! for the Encore !!  I mean let me tell you ... the Band was treating this Show like it was the Indy 500 ! - and they were the likes of say ... A.J. Foyt - Al Unser - or Rick Mears !!!  Ha !  Just Purely ! " Running For The Roses " - and looking for that Glass of Milk !  Classic ... for sure.  As Dead Fans got more-than ! a toe-to-toe '81 G.D. Heater !! at this Indiana Show !!! -- Wow !!!! ... Enjoy !!!!!
