Antique Paper Mache Brushbox.

A very attractive Japanese export-ware bole dating to the late 19th century Meiji period. The bole is made of papier-mâché covered with a rich layer of black lacquer, and with an oriental scene in gilt . It is in good condition with minor wear commensurate with its age.
