LEA ROBERTS

SIDE A:    RISAS EN LA LLUVIA

                  (Laughter In The Rain)

SIDE B:    ELLA DESTROZARA TU CORAZON

                  (She Will Break Your Heart)

MEGARARE and HARD-TO-FIND original United Artists Records very first Stereo press released by United Artists Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1975 by Industria De Radio Y Televisión S.A. (IRT Records), licensed from United Artists Records, Inc., USA, catalog number UA-XW539-X, with hand etched matrix numbers UA-XW-539-A EB-CD in Side A and UA-XW-539-B EB-CD in Side B, with traditional cream/black United Artists Records labels of the period with big “UA” logo at top and solid center. It’s interesting to notice that in both sides in the deadwax it’s written the exact day of pressing, “7-5-75” (May 7th of 1975). Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

Laughter In The Rain” was originally released in USA in August 1974 as single by Lea Roberts and both songs were included in her album “Lady Lea”, released in 1975 and in 1975 we got the single released here in Chile. Song titles are written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters, productions, arrangements and engineers, with additional information about rights society and publishers, with play time of each song. An interesting fact to know about this single is that it was originally released in 1974 and both songs reached the number 1 at Billboard in other versions, “Laughter In The Rain”, co-written by Neil Sedaka, was then released by Neil Sedaka and reached the number 1 in February 1975, and song “She Will Break Your Heart”, co-written by Jerry Butler, Calvin Carter and Curtis Mayfield, originally released by Jerry Butler in 1960 as “He Will Break Your Heart”, was released by Tony Orlando & Dawn with the title “He Don't Love You (Like I Love You)” and reached the number 1 in May 1975. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS of this so classic single by Lea Roberts, a record almost never seen and maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Soul/Disco music of the ‘70’s and especially for fans, lovers and collectors of Lea Roberts, Neil Sedaka, Jerry Butler, Curtis Mayfield, Calvin Carter or Tony Orlando & Dawn!!!

This record doesn’t have a cover. The record is in VG+ or EX- condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many soft scuffs, hairlines and some light scratches, hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great VG+ or EX- condition, clean and clear, with some minimal spindle hole, faint age browning and a name stamped, the number “28” written and a white sticker with other number written in Side B. The sound is in strong EX- or even EX condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant very soft crackles, more evident in the last seconds of each song, which don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is still a great record in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS, with Spanish-written titles, maybe not for the strictest Minty minds or audiophiles, but for sure with a nice glossy look, clean and fully readable labels and great sound quality after about 48 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean issue!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_____________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
