A nice vintage tinplate clockwork Ganga Yamuna Express
Return Train track toy consisting of a tram-style train
travelling along a straight track suspended in 4
circular hoops, made in India for the Welby
Co. probably in the 1970’s or 80’s. It has great
 lithography on the tinplate and comes with a
key and instructions in the original box.
 
In excellent working condition, with some playwear
the clockwork mechanism works well – when the track has
 been assembled and the train wound by the key supplied,
 the train moves up and down the track passing under
the supports until it hits the buffers, it then moves
back in the opposite direction, continuing until the
motor runs down. The track measures 42 inches
long when assembled, by 5 wide and 3.5 inches
tall. The train measures 3.5 inches long and is
marked “Ganga Yamuna” on the sides.
Comes with a very good original box also
marked “Ganga Yamuna Express Return
 Train” and “Welby” on one end..
 
A nice vintage tinplate clockwork toy that
does not come up for sale very often.
