On offer is a most likely French early 19^th Century papier mâché and faux tortoiseshell snuff box. With rare design to top of ‘Roman Charity’ telling the Roman exemplar story of a woman, Pero, who secretly breastfeeds her father, Cimon, after he is incarcerated and sentenced to death. With red background and gilded highlights. Some wear to painted areas. Overall condition good. A real collectors piece.
