Hopi Corn Kachina Doll.  Corn Kachinas (Qaokatsina) are the most common of the plant Kachinas and appear during winter Kiva dances and springtime plaza dances. Corn Kachinas represent the different varieties of corn (red, yellow, blue and white). The Corn Kachinas' dance is a prayer for corn, which is a major staple of Hopi life.

This Kachina is handmade of cottonwood root, stained and handpainted with a very unique style.  It is approximately 12 inches tall and 6 inches wide at the arms.  Nicely carved and painted.  Excellent condition.  Marked on base with "CORN" and the maker's name (which I can't identify.)  Has an attached tag which reads "Silver Eagle, Inc." and "$270.00".

This is a very nicely carved doll and makes quite a statement.  From my personal collection to yours!
