There's an interesting story behind this one: we're gadget freaks and the original and only owners of this HP TouchPad and accessories having purchased it brand new more than 12 years ago. It was one of those 'Had-To-Have-It' things everyone was talking about and purchased on a whim. It was carefully opened, charged, the latest WebOS (at the time) was downloaded from HP along with a few games and cool apps (Kindle, Adobe Reader, SPL DB meter, etc.) from their app store. Intentions were to allow our young niece and nephew to play with it but that never happened. It was promptly put away after a few hours of use and literally forgotten about until unearthing it again this evening (April 9, 2024). Amazingly, when powered up the battery had literally 100% charge remaining after being untouched for many, many years! Truly a quality HP product which retailed for $599.95 at the time. THINKING OF BUYING A BRAND NEW TOUCHPAD? Here's why that may be a BAD IDEA! HP has shut down their servers and this is no longer a supported product, but rest assured this one WORKS PERFECTLY because it was fully activated when new it's effectively 'grandfathered in' as a functional device. We had a great time this evening swiping through all the various screens, playing some music (impressive sound quality from the Beats Audio!), looking at images... the High-Resolution HD screen is as stunningly crisp and sharp today as it was all those years ago. Because of HP no longer supporting TouchPads, we've read that one should NEVER do a full erase/factory reset or the device will no longer function because it can't be reactivated so kindly be aware of that in advance. We'll ship this with everything intact (games, apps, etc.) so the proud new owner is ready to enjoy it as soon as the box is opened. There are still brand new, factory sealed TouchPads out there, but they'll apparently require software hacks these days in order to function and install Android or some other system -- BIG headache unless you're a software guru. None of those issues here! Adult ownership, no pets, no children, non-smoking household.
