- Atelier Borgila was founded by designer Erik Fleming in the early 1920s. In a short time, the company gained a very good reputation with a strong clientele, not least from members of the royal family. When the Swedish people were to present a wedding gift to Prince Gustaf Adolf and Princess Sibylla in 1932, Borgila was commissioned to design and manufacture a silver service that included over 800 pieces. The following year, Erik Fleming was appointed court silversmith by Gustaf V. Parts of the royal tableware were exhibited at the world exhibition in Chicago in 1933 and resulted, among other things, in the Metropolitan Museum in New York purchasing a collection of silver works from Borgila.
