* Please note that the
24"x77" in the title is just an estimate. The doors are not exactly that size. Please see "Dimensions" below.
Elegant, antique interiors door salvaged from an old, home in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
The doors are made of solid Douglas Fir or pine and have 5
raised panels on both sides. Door#1 is stained on both sides, and Door#2 is
painted on both sides.
When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft
wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have
the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities
that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also
much harder and stronger than young pine.
Hardware:
The doors are not
equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of hardware
to outfit them (check out our eBay store).
* If you would like the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote.
Uneven
Size:
The width of Door#1 was unevenly cut by 1/4", while the height was unevenly
cut by 5/8". The cuts was most likely made
to accommodate a warped floor or sagging foundation. We could cut either
door to an even height/width, or cut them narrower/shorter, or even build
them up to
be wider/taller--message
us for a quote.
Condition: Considering
the doors are well over 100 years old, they
are strong, sturdy and in great condition.
They only have nicks and scratches, but no breaks,
cracks, gouges or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes that they have will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks".
Swing: The
doors are set up to swing into a room towards the right, or away from a room towards the
left. We can modify either door to swing in the opposite direction--message us for a quote.
Modification: Do you want to replace the panels with glass, screen/mesh, or something else? We could modify the doors to fit your opening or suite your needs. Trim or add to the height or width,
reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a
small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a
quote.
