This lovely vase came from an incredible collection of Weller/Louwelsa pottery.  The fact that this one is NOT signed (all the rest are) leads me to believe that it is also a Weller pot, but possibly a prototype for a new form design or for a new painting design.

The bottom is clearly inscribed into the clay body with a $ sign and the number 817.

The outside is painted with a yellow daisy or black-eyed Susan, including stems and foliage.  The base color morphs from a light golden tan color to a deep chestnut brown. The glaze is very glossy and has a fine allover crackle to it.

This vase has no damage whatsoever.  No cracks, chips or scratches. It's in incredible condition for its age, which is likely pre-20th century/1890's.

It is 8.5" tall and approximately 4" at its widest.
