Special Railway 23J HC

Hampden Watch Co. 18 size 23 jewel hunting case lever-set Special Railway pocket watch movement/dial/hands.  A beautiful high grade movement with gold jewel settings, gold balance screws, terrific fancy 2-tone gold and nickel damaskeen finish, and gilt plate screws, jewel setting screws, and case screws.  This particular example is notable for the excellent preservation of its 2-tone color.  Movement is fronted by its correct double-sunk enamel dial with script signature.  Serial number is 1268312.

Running but balance motion is sluggish and I think likely this movement hasn't seen any type of servicing in many years.  Very nice looking movement overall cosmetically with an excellent 2-tone color and luster.  Main plate has a spot of whitish discoloration in the area above the right side of its serial number.  Dial faces up very well though has some edge flaking at the 6 o'clock area, a few scattered very faint hairlines, and a pinpoint surface nick to the inner rim of the outer chapter at the 1:30 area.
