THE KINKS

“SOMETHING ELSE BY THE KINKS”

WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!!  ULTRA MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original MONO very first press released in Chile in 1967 by PYE Records, made and distributed by Goluboff Industrias Fonográficas S.A. (Goluboff Records), licensed from Pye Limited, England, catalog number PY-010, with hand etched matrix numbers NMPL 18193A-1*M AD KT S in Side A and NMPL 18193B-1*M MPL 18193 B1 **M AD KT S in Side B, with dark pink/black Pye Records labels. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from this side of the world!!!

“SOMETHING ELSE BY THE KINKS” was originally released in UK in 1967 and the same year we could see this great album released here in Chile and like not so usual in the period, the cover is made of 2 single pieces of thin cardboard, one of them for the back cover and the other cardboard with a sheet of bright paper, partially glued to the cardboard, for the front cover, and both parts kept held for an outer plastic sleeve. Front cover keeps strictly the original UK artwork, with the only difference that in Chile it has the Pye Records logo and Chilean catalog number at top left corner. Back cover is totally different, with album title and tracklist written in English only, and a review about The Kinks and this album written in Spanish only, with Pye Records logo and Chilean catalog number at top right corner and Goluboff Records credit at bottom edge. In labels the album title and tracklist are written in English only, with full credits for songwriters and additional information about licenses. It’s interesting to notice all the matrix numbers scratched out at the deadwax in Side B and that they kept the same UK matrix numbers identifiers in this Chilean press. But the most interesting fact to notice is that in label, in Side B, the album title, correctly written in cover and in Side A, “Something By The Kinks”, is misspelled “Something BAY The Kinks”!!! So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE PRESS of this already rare album with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER DESIGN, UNIQUE PINK PYE RECORDS LABELS, UNIQUE MATRIX ERRORS and UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE ERROR, a record almost never seen and A MUST TO HAVE for all lovers, fans and collectors of The Kinks and British Invasion!!! And WHAT A GREAT CONDITION!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX- or EX condition, with only some wear in edges, more evident in the mouth edge and corners, with age browning in back cover, some faint creases in front cover and very faint ring marks, but complete and free of marks like writings, blemishes, stickers, etc. The record is in VG+ or even EX- condition, glossy and clean, with only light scuffs and soft hairlines, more evident in Side B, which of course don’t affect play at all. Labels on both sides are in great EX+ or NM- condition, with only some spindle hole wear, more evident in Side A. The sound is the best part of this record, it’s in strong EX- or EX condition, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with some occasional soft crackles and very light pops here and there, which don’t cause any major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end, with most of songs playing in EX+ or NM- condition!!! I’d recommend a deep vacuum/ultrasonic cleaning, sure the sound could even get better. Overall, sure this record keeps a very nice and clean glossy look, almost immaculate labels and superb sound quality after about 57 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean record!!! And don’t forget the UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER DESIGN, UNIQUE PINK PYE RECORDS LABELS, UNIQUE MATRIX ERROR and UNIQUE ALBUM TITLE ERROR!!! Not many copies were pressed in Chile and now maybe one of the best copies possible to find is auctioned here in eBay!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND again!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_________________________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
