 MARVIN, WELCH & FARRAR

“MARVIN, WELCH & FARRAR”

MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Capitol Records very first PROMOTIONAL Stereo press released in Chile in 1974 by Capitol Records, made and distributed by Industrias Eléctricas Y Musicales Odeon S.A. (Odeon Records Chile), licensed from Capitol Records, Inc. USA Recording, with catalog number (S)T-760, with hand etched matrix numbers ST-1 760. 1 AAR. in Side A and ST-2 760. 1 in Side B, with red/silver boxed Capitol Records labels. It’s very interesting to notice that in Chile this album keeps the same original US catalog number. Yes Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

“MARVIN, WELCH & FARRAR” was originally released in 1971 but we had to wait until 1974 to see this great album of the ex-members of The Shadows Hank Marvin and Bruce Welch with the Australian musician John Farrar released here in Chile and like so many times in that period, we got it with an UNIQUE COVER made of two single pieces of a very thin cardboard for both front and back covers kept together for an outer plastic bag which’s part of the cover. Front cover keeps strictly the original US artwork, with the only difference that in Chilean press you can see a little paper “SERIE STANDARD” floating between the plastic bag and the paper front cover. Back cover is totally different, in original US or UK issues the back cover artwork is the same landscape of front cover but in Chile the back cover takes the artwork of the original right inner sleeve, with the 3 faces of members black and white colored, with the tracklist written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits written in Spanish only. In labels the album the tracklist is written in Spanish, translated to English, with credits for songwriters. As you can see if you know this album, here in Chile we got the US tracklist, which omits 2 songs included in the original UK issue. Yes… Here it’s another nice FIND, another rarity from Chile, the album “Marvin, Welch & Farrar” by Marvin, Welch & Farrar with an UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PROMOTIONAL SAMPLE STAMPED labels!!! UNIQUE press from Chile!!! WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in great EX or EX+ condition, clear and clean, no writings, no bends, no blemishes, only minimal wear in edges and corners, a crease at bottom right corner. The outer plastic bag is complete and clean, it’s in EX- or EX condition, with a little “seam split” at the bottom edge, caused for the record and evidence of a writing and light scratches. The record is in great EX+ or NM- condition both sides, glossy and clean, with minimal scuffs and light hairlines, hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect sound at all, no scratches. Labels on both sides are in great NM- or NM condition, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle wear and a writing in Side A. The sound is in great EX+ or NM- condition the Side A, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with only very occasional crackles here and there, more evident in the silent parts and some soft clicks in the songs “Brownie Kentucky” and at the end of “Throw Down A Line”, and in EX- or EX condition the Side B, virtually no background noise, but more evident occasional crackles than in Side A, with some pops and clicks, which don’t cause major distraction from the great sound this album keeps from the beginning to the end. I’d recommend a professional vacuum cleaning. Overall, a megarare press of this record with UNIQUE COVER and still a great sound quality after about 50 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press, LOUD, CLEAR, NO DISTORTIONS, NO JUMPS, NO STICKS, a record to listen and enjoy from the beginning to the end. And don’t forget the UNIQUE COVER and the UNIQUE PROMOTIONAL SAMPLE STAMP in both labels, and UNIQUE ERROR!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

____________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
