- A rare new Soprano No 3 off the first batch of 5 .....This is the a new ukulele design in a joint endeavour with my Son Mike Timms … based on the "Martin Style 0 soprano" with a few modifications... the main difference is the bolt on neck joins the body at the 14th fret instead of the usual 12th fret thus giving more access to the higher register on the 17 fret fingerboard... To achieve this, the upper bout of the body has been shortened and the neck length increased so that the bridge still maintains its position in the lower bout sweet spot... also the width at the waist has been made slightly wider to compensate for any internal loss of spacial volume ... Another feature is the tuners have been moved futher up the headstock to give more hand room playing chords at the nut end where the back of the hand can catch on the tuner buttons especially when playing the E7 chord (common on the Martin Soprano) ...Built with solid top back and sides from reclaimed Cuban Mahogany with a Sapele neck fitted with a Santos Rosewood fretboard, plus an Ebony saddle and nut....To keep the vintage look and feel, the finish is hand rubbed Garnett French Polish ..fitted with quality friction tuners and Aquila strings...The Nut width is 38mm which is approx: 1 1/2 inch
