I have a few of these Docks from an office clear out. They are perfect for HP ZBook and HP Elitebook laptops however they do completely work with other HP laptops and other brands including Lenovo laptops, Dell, Surface Pro and Surface laptop, and many others.  Basically the USB-C connector provides all the connectivity, the 4.5mm power connector just provides power.  If your laptop has a USB-C thunderbolt port then this works with it and all the ports will work fine.  The USB-C connection will also provide up to 100w of power too.

Basically the ends magnetically attach together to fit perfectly in a ZBook or Elitebook laptop. But they split apart and the USB-C Thunderbolt cable can then go straight into any laptop basically and it recognizes the ports on the dock.
